We can say and confirm that Europe has many of the most beautiful and most historic villages in the world. Medieval villages that have perfectly preserved its historic center, fairytale villages located on the banks of lakes, on mountain tops, on cliffs bathed by the Mediterranean Sea or surrounded by nature, which we are sure, would surprise you.
We have made a selection of those we believe are 25 essential villages to visit in Europe, in which all could be included in routes by car or public transport that you do in the country. We start!

1. Hallstat

Hallstat the most beautiful village on the banks of a lake and one of the most essential villages to visit in Europe. The views of the town with the lake from both sides are postcard, especially if you are lucky enough to visit it in winter, at which time the chances of seeing it with snow increase. One of the best places to see in Austria without any doubt.
On a route through Austria we recommend you stay in the neighboring town of Obertraun, much cheaper than Hallstatt and located a few kilometers away.
Touring the town will not take you more than 2 or 3 hours, taking it with tranquility, and above all, enjoying the atmosphere and tranquility. Do not forget to climb to the top of the town, where the famous Hallstatt ossuary is located.

2. Eguisheim

On a car route through Alsace, Eguisheim is a mandatory stop. It was declared the most beautiful town in France in 2013 and is one of the most visited villages in the country. The streets of the historic center are distributed in the form of concentric circles and next to their colorful half-timbered houses, they form a fairytale town.
